The Sussex Fire Department proudly protects approximately 15,000 citizens in the town of Sussex and surrounding areas who are living in an area of 120 square miles. We operate out of one station that protects a primarily residential area, providing Firefighting, Sussex Fire Department Station and Trucks Vehicle Rescue (Extrication), Search & Rescue services, and Water Rescue. Our department consists strictly of volunteer members which includes a Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Deputy Chief, 4 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, and 28 firefighters.
The Sussex Fire Department holds an annual recruitment for new members in the month of May. Firefighting can be a very rewarding and satisfying job. You are encouraged to try out for the next available position so watch our website and your local newspaper listing for the dates of the upcoming events.
